Our online training courses are open to anyone
with Internet access, anywhere in the world.
Power Learning Online online training courses
take place wherever your computer is: at home, at work, on the road
-- anywhere you can connect to the Internet.
Technically, there are no class times. You can
log onto the system whenever it is convenient for you, at any time,
day or night, to take a course, or just part of a course. You don't
have to be online at a set time of day.
These courses are completely web-based. It's
designed for online learning and allows anyone with even basic
computer skills can be taking courses in minutes.
Start with any course you want to start with, and
take as long as you need to complete the course. You may also
complete the course as quickly as you want to also, or skip sections
of courses where you are already proficient.
There are no books to buy, and no classes to
attend.
Please contact us immediately with all technical
problems related to the online training. In addition, Power Learning
Online has put together some great resource links to help you find
answers to any technical questions you might have about the course
content. Our extensive online resources can quickly resolve most
situations that come up. If you can't find what you need online,
please don't hesitate to ask us for help. We want to do everything
possible to ensure that your training experience is a positive one.
You can receive CEU's - Continuing Education
Units - for every course you complete through the Power Learning
Online library. All Power Learning Online courses now offer you the
opportunity to earn Continuing Education Units from accredited
universities for successfully completing a Power Learning Online
course. CEU's are currently awarded by both Ohio University and
Otterbein College, also in Ohio.
You can also receive a Certificate of Completion
for every course you complete to show your employer (or future
employer) the steps you are taking to improve your skills.
Similar to many classroom training providers
throughout the U.S., our training partner, is a member of the
Microsoft Independent Courseware Vendor Program (ICV) which means
they are permitted to produce courses to be reviewed for the coveted
Microsoft Certified Professional Approved Study Guide and the
Microsoft Office User Specialist (MOUS) logos. Some companies
recognize this, and some do not.
Strict courseware development guidelines are published by Microsoft
and must be followed by ICV members when producing courses to have
any chance of receiving the logos. Once a course is finished it must
also pass a complete review by Microsoft before any logo is granted.
Courses containing either logo are your assurance that Microsoft has
reviewed and approved the quality of the content in the course.
The Microsoft Certified Professional Approved
Study Guide and MOUS programs were developed to offer individuals a
quality alternative to prepare for the various Microsoft
certification programs. Everyone cannot afford the time and cost of
attending instructor-led courses to prepare for the various
certifications. By offering an alternative, Microsoft has given more
individuals the opportunity to receive the many benefits of being
certified. Our training partner currently provides a complete set of
courses to help individuals prepare for many certifications,
including the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft
Office User Specialist (MOUS) certification, CompTIA's A+
Certification, and others. As the largest provider of these courses
in real-time through the Internet at extremely attractive
subscription pricing, Mind Leaders sets new standards of excellence
in the training world. With these valuable credentials, employers
can be assured that their employees are receiving a high-quality,
instructionally sound online training product that not only enhances
professional and personal growth, but also stimulates job
satisfaction.
All courses may be taken
without a plug-in; however, for enhanced interaction within a
course, it is recommended to download and install the
Shockwave plug-in first.
Power Learning Online
courses should run normally on any web-TV system that support
JavaScript. However, the simulations within the courses will not
work.
Each course includes a
30-question Skill Assessment, which evaluates your knowledge of the
course material. The Skill Assessment can be used for pre and
post-testing. Both your first and best scores are recorded for your
viewing. While you may EXIT the Skill Assessment at any time, you
must complete it at one sitting to receive a score.
Once you have completed a
Unit within a Course, go back and re-answer every question in that
Unit. Your improved score for that Unit will then be recorded.
Both Skill Assessment
scores and Course scores are available through the Skill Assessment
screen, which you access from the Navigation Bar.
After your subscription is
set up, a link to our login web site will be e-mailed to you. Click
on student login icon, sign-in, and begin taking courses. Specific
instructions will be e-mailed to you after your payment is
processed.
Yes, in two ways:
-
The courses automatically use a global
bookmark to mark the last page you were working on. This happens
automatically when you click the EXIT button in the toolbar. Then
the next time you sign on with your UserID and Password and select
that course, you will be taken to the marked location where you left
off. This global bookmarking feature works even if your next log in
is from another computer.
-
You can also bookmark the last page worked on
by adding it to your Bookmarks or Favorites on your individual
browser. However this type of bookmark would not take you to where
you last left off if your next log in is on a different computer,
hence a different browser. And you will still need to go to the
Training section front page first to log-in.
To get full credit for
completing a course, you must answer every "Think About It"
question. You get credit for completing a Unit when you answer every
question in that Unit. The course is completed when you have
answered every question, in every Unit of that course.
If the course has a student
guide, go to the Table of Contents to download.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is required, which can also be downloaded
for free from within the course. The student guide is not required
to take the course.
We do not formally support our courseware on the
Macintosh platform. If you choose to try to use the courses on a
Macintosh, you need to be aware that they will not
have full functionality, specifically within the Authorware
simulations and the supplied files. However, if you are a Macintosh
user and make use of a Windows emulator, Authorware simulations and
supplied files may function. Since we do not test
with Macintosh or Windows emulators, we cannot guarantee our courses
on the Macintosh platform.
Sometimes AOL browsers are
a problem when taking these courses. However, this is easily
overcome. You will first need to launch AOL, and minimize it. Then
open Netscape or Internet Explorer browser and access the Power
Learning Online Student Log-in through either one of these browsers.
Power Learning Online
courses are based on sound principles, from extensive research in
instructional design, adult learning and information processing. All
online training courses are designed so that new knowledge and
skills will be remembered and retrieved for future use. Each Power
Learning Online subscription is divided into courses. Courses are
divided into units. Each unit consists of:
-
A well-defined set of
learning objectives.
-
A series of interactions
that teach the stated objectives.
-
A means for evaluating
whether the learning objectives have been met.
Online training or web based training, also known
as e-learning and distance learning, is educational training
accessed through a web browser on any computer.
All our programs are tax deductible. " All
expenses of continuing education undertaken to maintain and improve
professional skills are tax deductible. (Treas. Reg. 1-162-5,

which has 18 years of experience in e-learning. All of our courses

using a browser and modem speeds as slow as a 28.8 K B. Individuals
and employees can access these interactive educational courses
through the Internet from work and at home.
Anytime and anywhere a registered student has
access to the Internet they can study as long as they want. Unlike
other types of training, all courses are accessible 24 hours a day 7
days a week. No parking hassles, no missed assignments, and nothing
to install. Each student must simply log in, enter a password,
select the course, and click on enter. Let the learning begin!
A Certificate of Achievement is awarded at the
end of the year for single odd courses and/or a detailed Certificate
for any series or program such as Microsoft Networking or HTML.
I get tapes and
books with other courses?
Don't be confused. We are able offer the best in training at an
affordable price because everything is web based. Just like E-Books
are less expensive to deliver. Why pay for CD's, video tapes, and
hard bound books that will sit on a shelf and collect dusk. Even if
you want to review the material after your 1 year subscription is
over, our "Retake a course" prices are very competitive.
Many of the Microsoft topics carry either the Microsoft Approved
study Guide or Microsoft User Specialist logo. Courses carrying
these logos are guaranteed to a been reviewed for completeness and
approved by Microsoft. Why is this important? Very simply, if you
are investing your time to study a course to pass a test to gain
certification, you want to be insured what you are learning
encompasses all the material required to pass the test. Spend your
money wisely using our proven course material.
Refresher Subscriptions
Refresher subscriptions are available to students purchasing Yearly
subscriptions.

yours. Testing is meant to assist you in the learning process.
Unlike in other systems, the test results are used to point out the
material you do not know without hindering the flow of the course.
At times if the course is provided by your employer he may require
taking the test before the start of each course.
Don't feel as though you of been dropped into the
middle of a course as as other distance learning products may do.

material you do not know after taking the test each time. We feel
this is not the best interest of the students. All material is
provided on an unlimited basis for the term of the subscription.
Suggested time requirements for each course are
detailed in the course catalog. Hyperlink Remember

year to learn the course material .

entire year, repeating courses, reviewing material and taking
assessment tests as often as you want.
